AAFVG
THE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION OF FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA
The Breeders Association of Friuli Venezia Giulia (AAFVG) was born in 1994 from the merger of the four Provincial Associations, the Regional Center for the Artificial Fertilization of Animal Breed Species and the Cooperative Consortium of Poultry Producers. The Association operates, in accordance with the directives of the Italian Breeders Association (AIA), in the context of regional, national and European policies.
The goal of the Association is to implement initiatives aimed at improving and enhancing farmed livestock and related products with the awareness that the merely productivistic vision, which has also characterized the recent past, must necessarily be overcome.
Animal welfare, quality, food hygiene, food safety and traceability represent the current fronts on which the Association intends to deal with. This vision required a continuous improvement of the information systems for the collection and management of a growing amount of data. The computer center is now able to manage productive, qualitative, reproductive, genetic, health data of each individual animal registered in the herd book.
AAFVG (the Breeders Association of Friuli Venezia Giulia) also makes use of modern operational facilities such as the Milk and Microbiology Laboratory and the Artificial Fertilization Center.
There are many services provided by AAFVG, including functional checks, technical assistance to livestock farms and dairies, chemical and microbiological analysis of milk, artificial fertilization, environmental services, training courses and updating, the promotion and protection service. The services offered, together with the preparation and professionalism of the staff, are and will be able to guarantee sustainable growth of regional animal husbandry.
